Workshops

Learn simple weaving techniques on a loom that you can take home, or join us for a longer-term project on a floor or table loom. Materials included.

Meinolf Weaving School is a flexible space that offers weaving workshops, loom rentals, and private or group weaving classes. Drop in any time to check out the space and plan a project, or send us an email to discuss.

How it works:

Select a workshop from the list below, and book your appointment using the calendar at the top of this page. You can pay when you arrive by check, cash, or debit/credit card. On weekends, we welcome walk-ins any time between 11 and 3.

Note: All workshops are offered at a sliding pricing scale. Reach out if costs are prohibitive and we will work with you!

Types of Workshops

Multi-Day Workshops: (Please book a slot on the calendar)

Table Top Looms: 2 Weeks for $200

We will design and set up a multiple harness weave structure on a small-scale loom (approx 10-14" wide) and learn all the steps necessary to set up the floor and tabletop looms.

Pick any two days to meet and work together, you are free to bring the loom home to work in between sessions and then return it two weeks later or continue week to week.

You can also leave the loom here and come in to work during open hours.

Floor Looms: 4 weeks for $400

Four and Eight-harness looms available for month-long floor loom instruction and studio booking.

Together we will determine the materials and pattern structure that best suit your project, up to 40" wide and three yards long!

Each step of the process will have my hands-on support in the studio and you are free to use the looms and time during open hours!

One-Day Workshops: (Walk-ins Welcome)

$100/per person: includes instruction, small loom (you can take it home!) and materials.

Types of small looms:

Nested Frame Looms (all ages)

Two medium-sized frames to set up for the most basic over-under needle weaving with all sizes of yarn and interesting materials.

Rigid Heddle Backstrap Loom (all ages)

A combination of many traditional weaving techniques, you stretch this loom between your body and a fixed point, weaving a long strip. These strips can be used as scarves or straps, or stitched together to make garments or blankets!

Trav'loom (eight and up)

A small frame loom with an automatic mechanism that simplifies and speeds up the weaving process! Great as a little weaving "sketchbook" for small experiments, or little tapestries for days!!!

Group Workshops: (Please book a slot on the calendar)

We are available for one-day group workshops: great for team building, or get a group of friends together. Choose between any of our small looms. $500 for six people includes materials, instruction, and a small loom to take home!

Thank you for being here.
